Work in Progress 2015: Andererseits

The Contemporary Dance School Hamburg would like to invite the interested dance public to the 2015 edition of our traditional „Work in Progress“ performance at the Hamburger Sprechwerk (Klaus-Groth-Str. 23). Students of all three training years will perform their choreographies on Friday, March 6, 2015 at 8 pm; Saturday, March 7 at 8 pm and Sunday, March 8 at 6 pm, giving first impressions of the inspirations in their current final project.

This year’s theme is „ANDERERSEITS“ (in contrast/on the other hand) and awakes highly diverging associations and emotions: For Raul Valdez, the artistic director at CDSH, the term „ANDERERSEITS“ is many-layered, multi-dimensional and a never-ending source of inspiration. A motto that leaves various directions open, presents opportunities not to lose sight of the goal, which however does not exclude being on the wrong track.

ANDERERSEITS is a term that not only stands for flexibility and contradiction; it also stands for something else, for alternatives that must always be available. In life and in dance. For the dancers and performers at CDSH, it is an invitation to develop their creative potential, to gain a new perspective as a dancer from the vantage point of the stage. Some things appear vague, afflicted by a schematic fog, truth sheens through, but ANDERERSEITS…

How will the dancers and performers approach this complex term? How will they realize it as artists and dancers? This is the thought-provoking question for the choreographers and the audience.

However, Javier Baez, director of CDSH emphasises that there is more to Work in Progress, he says „for these young dancers, the live stage experience, the interaction with the audience, will be of great importance for the success of an ensemble in their later careers. These are vital experiences for their training.“
